'Release Party' is de eerste single van James Righton's aanstaande tweede album en staat ook op de briljante DEEWEE 'Foundations'-compilatie. De track kwam in zijn garage tot leven tijdens lockdown 1 en werd op afstand geproduceerd (thank the internet Gods) door Dave & Steph (Soulwax) in hun DEEWEE-studio's in Gent. Nadat hij bekend werd als zanger/toetsenist van de succesvolle Britse band Klaxons, opnames met Arctic Monkeys, een zijsprong naar zijn Shock Machine-project en input bij het samenstellen van ABBA's nieuwe liveband, is James Righton vastbesloten om zijn solowerk verder te verkennen. In 2022 vindt Righton zichzelf opnieuw uit, via de verbluffende synthsounds op Jim, I'm Still Here, het nieuwe 12-track album (met een gastoptreden van ABBA's Benny Andersson). Op deze derde post-Klaxons-release belichaamt Righton het uitbundige, rockster-alter ego Jim...
“The alter ego of Jim came to me whilst promoting my previous album ‘The Performer’ during the first week of lockdown. I created Jim. Jim would be the deluded rockstar, living out his fantasies from the confines of his garage. James was Dad.
At the same time as creating Jim I also spent more time than ever thinking. Just thinking. I thought about the people I love, the people I miss, the places I wanted to go to, the things I wanted to do. I was looking forward and back. Time allowed thoughts in. Thoughts became words and the words became songs (...) As a result this album is more personal, raw and unlike any other I’ve made. I let the words dictate.
To be clear Jim and James are both me. Jim is an exaggerated semi fictional version of me. James changes nappies, makes dinner and reads bedtime stories to his kids. Jim craves external validation, likes, followers and adds to playlists. But in truth you can never fully detach Jim from James. The balance and constantly shifting nature of this duality I find endlessly fascinating.

Movulango is het nieuwe project van Mozes Mosuse, waarvan de debuut EP eind september volgt. Melancholische, trippy dreampop from outer space is hetgeen we mogen verwachten. Iets dat blijkbaar nog ontbrak in de DEEWEE family. "Every label needs a psychedelic romantic, right? Mozes is the DEEWEE artist we have known the longest and have been working with from day one”, aldus Stephen Dewaele. En ‘day one’ mag je daarin zeer letterlijk nemen, wetende dat Mozes het petekind van Stephen is. Met ook verre nonkel James Righton van de partij, een familiefeest om niet te missen.
