Criticism, blasphemy, satire...?

Nom de Dieu: criticism, blasphemy, satire...?” is the title of an exhibition in PILAR at the VUB (curator: Willem Elias). What one understands by blasphemy, criticism and satire can be interpreted differently depending on the historical, cultural, ideological and philosophical background. Artists featured in this expo are Félicien Rops, Marcel Mariën, Pjeroo Roobjee, Jan Van Imschoot, Liliane Vertessen, Wim Delvoye, Guillaume Bijl, Carmen De Vos, Elke Andreas Boon, Bart Ramakers, Peter De Cupere, Hilde Braet, Freddy De Vierman, Roland Minnaert, Ronny Delrue, Jo De Smedt , Dees De Bruyne & Frank JMA Castelyns... A number of school performances will be organized at the VUB in the context of this exhibition.

Program school visits

9:30: Welcome and introduction to the theme by HuisvandeMens/House of Practical Humanism. The students will be divided into two groups (maximum of 2 groups of 50 people).

10:00: Group 1 will have a guided tour with activities at the exhibition "Nom de Dieu: critique, blasphemy, satire, …?". Meanwhile, Group 2 will watch a film or theater performance on the subject.

12:00: Lunch at the VUB restaurant.

13:00: The programs will switch: Group 2 will have the guided tour and activities at the exhibition "Nom de Dieu: critique, blasphemy, satire, …?" while Group 1 watches the film or theater performance.

15:00: All students will come together again. Participants will be asked to share their findings with the entire group, and there will also be an opportunity to ask questions about the exhibition and the performance.

15:30: End of the program.

*Optional: It is also possible to visit only the exhibition with a guide, with a maximum of 50 people.
