A glimpse into the world of thoughts of theater maker Dounia Mahammed. As light-hearted as it is thoughtful, w a t e r w a s w a s s e r will take you along life questions, daily worries, rhymes and absurd side roads. In these times without time to take time, Dounia wants to stop and allow emptiness to exist. She found inspiration in Zen Buddhism, Taoism, tea rituals and the stilled, poetical work of the German artist Wolfgang Laib. A whimsical, poetic representation that makes you painfully and cheerfully aware of the fluidity of life. Live improvisations by pianist Alan Van Rompuy turn this solo into a lively dialogue.
Mahammed debuted in 2016 with Salut Copain, for which she won the Jongtheaterschrijfprijs at Theater aan Zee. With her second performance, w a t e r w a s w a s s e r, she meets the high expectations with great reviews in the national and international press.
