w/ Yousra Benfquih, Warda El-Kaddouri, Jenny Mijnhijmer, Whitney Krens and Martha Da’Ro

An evening around the work of Audre Lorde with a keynote by Scherpsteller Warda El-Kaddouri, an interview with her, Jenny Mijnhijmer, and Whitney Krens moderated by Yousra Benfquih +  poems by Lorde recited by Martha Da’Ro.
For the third PILAR ASAP edition, The Fluid Identity Edition, Pilar and deBuren, in co-curation with Scherpsteller Warda El-Kaddouri, have drawn up a series around Sister Outsider by the Caribbean-American author, poet, feminist and activist Audre Lorde. This in honor of the forthcoming Dutch-language translation of her bundled work. Warda El-Kaddouri opens the evening with a keynote about Lorde's work. Thereafter lawyer and writer Yousra Benfquih moderates the conversation between El-Kaddouri, policymaker Jenny Mijnhijmer and cultural analyst Whitney Krens. During the evening, actress and singer Martha Da'Ro will perform poems by Lorde.

Lorde described herself as a black lesbian, mother, warrior and poet. But we can also add feminist, activist, author and professor to that list. Audre Lorde was a versatile woman who addressed inequalities in society both through her literature and her activism. Although she wrote down her insights several decades ago, they are still very topical. As an audience, you are of course invited to ask questions, respond to the speakers' proposals or add insights yourself.
