Live listening session with introduction by Ernst Maréchal / Social Recordings

Adieu Molenbeek is a soundscape based on field recordings and interviews made in the streets of Molenbeek. It is partly a document of a place in times of Covid, but above all a free composition in which environmental sounds and diverse voices search for attunement, entanglement and transformation. A sound bubble somewhere in between field recording, ambient, podcast and sonic journalism.

Ernst Maréchal

Ernst Maréchal (1975) lives and works in Antwerp, Charleroi and Brussels. Maréchal obtained his Masters in Dramatic Arts at the RITCS in Brussels. As a result of his social commitment, he was already looking for ways to artistically recreate social themes during his studies. Once graduated, he coordinated various (social) artistic projects and festivals and was one of the founders of Scheld'apen, Antwerp. Social action and public space remain key words in his work, in which he makes frequent use of audiovisual techniques. Ernst Maréchal is currently working on a PhD in the arts within RITCS.
