Chess became a hit during the lockdown. Initially mainly on the screen due to the Netflix seriesThe Queen's Gambit, but in the aftermath of that a lot of people also started playing chess themselves. Never before have so many people played chess. International Chess Federation Fide estimates the number of chess players worldwide at 600 million.

Be seduced by one of the oldest games in the world during this free chess initiation. Piet Van de Craen & François Haulotte from the Brussels Chess Club teach you the basic techniques of this great game during this workshop.

“It's an entire world of just 64 squares. I feel safe in it. I can control it; I can dominate it. And it's predictable. So, if I get hurt, I only have myself to blame.”  (Walter Tevis, The Queen's Gambit)

The Brussels Chess Club is open to chess enthusiasts of all walks of life, all horizons, all ages and from beginners to experts. Every Monday from 18:00 in 'Het Huys' (Egide Van Ophemstraat 46, 1180 Uccle).
