PILAR ASAP: THE LIMINAL EDITION SCREENING II
Our film program continues during the Art festival ASAP, this time curated around the theme of liminality.
Liminality is a complex concept—hard to define because it feels so deeply personal when you're experiencing it. Alongside music, we’re using film to explore liminality, both collectively and individually, through personal stories.
The second screening features Barry Jenkins’ acclaimed Moonlight, which won three Oscars in 2017.
Moonlight follows three pivotal stages in the life of Chiron, a Black gay boy growing up in one of Miami’s toughest neighborhoods. We see him as a child, teenager, and adult, struggling with his identity, masculinity, and his mother’s drug addiction. The only role model in his life is Juan, a drug dealer who unexpectedly takes him under his wing.
"In these uncertain times, we need storytellers such as Jenkins more than ever – people who can turn a tale of conflict and hardship" - The Guardian ★★★★★
