Concert
PAARD. X John Ghost
Tue 31 Mar 2020Glitchy Stoemp! concert (POSTPONED/CANCELLED)
Brussel's buzzing cause Stoemp! and Pilar invite:
PAARD.
This musical trio from Ghent entered the Belgian scene at the beginning of 2019 and was immediately invited to tame the Ghent Jazz stage. The three stallions on duty are vibraphonist Wim Segers (Flat Earth Society, Compro Oro), bassist Owen Perry Weston (Coely) and drummer Sigfried Burroughs (Kapitan Korsakov). Their idiosyncratic musical mishmash stretches on the border of jazz, hip hop and groovy funk flows. They create a quirky, eccentric and beastly vibe. Gallop galore.

John Ghost
This sextet with guitarist/composer Jo De Geest in the ranks brings jazz, rock and contemporary classical music. Self-evident where the inspiration for the name John Ghost is taken from, but it also fits like a glove when you hear the unique atmosphere that the music of the group evokes. For their latest album 'Airships are Organisms' released by Sdban Records, they searched for a perfect balance between the risky, open and playful character of jazz music. A record that reminds you of Steve Reich, Nils Frahm and Jaga Jazzist. The sextet has an instrumental undertone of playful and danceable jazz. Strange melodies that build up to a delightful climax.
