Open Call

Open Call 2024 - Collectives

Pilar is an open, artistic laboratory on the main campus of the VUB in Brussels. Talent development is our starting point.  Pilar is an experimentation space where future thinkers and doers can get creative. We offer enthusiastic troublemakers a free haven to let wild ideas grow; ideas that can be translated into small- or large-scale cultural projects.
- Curating an exhibition in Pilar's exhibition space (September 12, 2024 – November 7, 2024).

- Curating a music program in the Pilar Box on Thursday (October 03, 2024).
Based on the submitted proposals, a jury will shortlist 5 project proposals. The collectives on the shortlist will be invited in the second half of May to present their projects to the jury, after which the final collective will be selected.

- Artistic and production budget for both the exhibition and the music program.
- Work time and space in Pilar from June to September (maximum 15 days).
- Tailored support (coaching, materials, technology, communication).

- You are a young collective (minimum 3 members), with the majority under 30 years old.
- Preference is given to proposals of interdisciplinary co-creation (cross-pollination between music, performance, and visual arts).
- Project proposals are selected based on feasibility, sharpness, and relevance.
- Your project aligns with Pilar's mission.
- Connection to Brussels.

Your application must consist of a single PDF document containing the following items:
- Introduction of the collective and a motivation note explaining why your collective wants to participate in the call. Also, indicate which aspects of the collective you aim to develop further through the assignment.
- Exhibition title (working title).
- Vision and brief concept text.
- Practical details of all members of the collective: name, date of birth, email address, and phone number.
