On January 26, Blue—artist, poet, and so much more—curates our Movie Monday at Pilar as a resident. She has chosen Perfect Days, Wim Wenders’ layered, sensitive, and melancholic film:
"I selected this film because it resonates with me through its serene and breezy moments. It’s a film that fosters tranquility and reveals how much we are overwhelmed by narratives and tales. Your gestures and facial expressions frequently convey more than words ever could.
As a poet and spoken word performer, it was delightful to experience/watch silence, refrain from verbal communication, and observe the events of the environment! The locations we occupy communicate, pay attention!
The film embodies a Wabi Sabi aesthetic; it was impossible not to adore it.
The manner in which the protagonist values and enjoys these flawed instances while immersed in the serenity of nature's balance.
In a world that requires so much from us, there’s always room for tranquility and simplicity! Wabi Sabi teaches us to be mindful and appreciate natural happenings.
That served as a soft reminder to occasionally embrace total silence. No phone, no music, no distractions; only the world and me as a part of it. Surrendering to the void.”
