For the first Movie Monday of 2026, we start with Pulp Fiction (1994)!
This film is regarded as the best Quentin Tarantino has ever made and as a cornerstone of postmodern cinema. It also marked a new breakthrough for John Travolta, who had mostly played comedic roles up to that point and was afterward cast in more serious and masculine parts.
In this critically acclaimed film by director Quentin Tarantino, we are introduced in an original way to the criminal underworld of Los Angeles. Three powerful crime stories cleverly weave in and out of each other.
The two thieves Honey Bunny (Amanda Plummer) and Pumpkin (Tim Roth) decide over breakfast in a coffee shop to rob the customers of their wallets. Meanwhile, criminals Vincent Vega (John Travolta) and Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson) take care of some lowlifes to secure a mysterious black briefcase. When their boss Marsellus Wallace (Ving Rhames) has to leave town, Vincent reluctantly agrees—risking his own life—to keep an eye on Wallace’s wife Mia (Uma Thurman). And then there’s promising boxer Butch Coolidge (Bruce Willis), who has pocketed a hefty sum from Marsellus to go down in the fifth round. But Butch doesn’t stick to the deal, and the consequences are severe.
