Your Event at PILAR
PILAR is an open artistic laboratory in Brussels on the VUB Main Campus in Etterbeek. You can rent our location for your own activity or event. On this page you can read everything you need to know as a tenant.
The PILAR BOX is our multi-purpose black box and is located on the ground floor of the Pilar Building. The BOX has a capacity of 300 people (standing) or 90 people seated (extendable stand).
The PILAR BOX is suitable for events such as concerts, theater, parties, lectures, debates, screenings, etc.

The space features:
- a stage with dimensions of 7m wide and 5m deep
- +-100 lockers for checkroom;
- Gender-neutral toilets, consisting of 4 urinals and 6 stalls, including 1 accessible for persons with disabilities.;
- a backstage area;
- a loading and unloading area;
- a kitchenette;
- 2 lounges with shower, seat, table, chairs, lockers + 2 fridges

Who Can Rent our Space?
Anyone can rent PILAR's spaces. A distinction is made between:
1. Internal tenants (VUB)
2. Partners of Pilar or VUB
3. External tenants

Can We Hire Some Help?
The following audiovisual technicians are affiliated with Pilar
and can be hired by the tenant as freelancers:

When Can We Rent the Place?
Rental is possible on weekdays and weekends, provided there is no conflict with PILAR's own events.
- Rental is not possible during official holidays.
- Rental is not possible between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
- To avoid disturbance, one late-night event (after 10 PM) a week is allowed on Friday or Saturday night, except during the exam periods.
If you wish to rent on a regular basis, we can look into a reduced rate. Please send your request to pilar.verhuur@vub.be, and we will explore how we can assist you.

Accesibility
Accessibility to PILAR is easily achievable for visitors using public transportation. The Etterbeek train station, metro stops Pétillon and Hankar, tram stops VUB and Arsenaal, as well as bus stops Arsenaal and Elsene Etterbeek Station, are within walking distance of PILAR.

If you wish to rent the PILAR BOX for your event and make an effective request, please complete the application form and return it to: verhuur.pilar@vub.be. Specify the period during which you wish to rent, and a PILAR staff member will propose the available rental dates to you.
